How an Ashburn Kitchen Remodel Works With Us

Every Kitchen Kings project follows the same five steps. Here is what happens at each one, and what we will ask of you, so there are no surprises once work starts.

  1. 01

    Consult

We review your goals, pain points, budget priorities and the existing kitchen. Your part: a short list of what isn't working, photos of kitchens you like, and the appliances you plan to keep or replace.

  2. 02

    Design

We develop the layout plan, cabinet plan, material direction and written project scope. Your part: review the layout against how your household really uses the room and flag anything that feels tight.

  3. 03

    Select

Cabinets, countertops, fixtures, flooring, lighting and finishes are finalized. Your part: make decisions before construction starts, and look at samples in your own kitchen's light.

  4. 04

    Build

Demolition, rough-ins, installations and finish work. Your part: clear the kitchen, set up a temporary cooking area, and keep paths open for the crew.

  5. 05

    Complete

We review final details, address closeout items, and turn over the finished space. Your part: walk the kitchen with us and note anything that needs attention.

Before the first visit

You do not need finishes picked out. The most useful thing to bring to the consultation is a problem list: the corner cabinet you cannot reach, the refrigerator door that blocks the walkway, the island nobody sits at. Note two or three outcomes you will not compromise on. If you live in a community with an HOA, have your association's contact details handy in case anything in the project affects the exterior, such as a new range hood vent or window.

Design and selections

Design is where the layout, cabinet plan and scope come together. Once the layout is agreed, selections follow: door style and finish, countertop material, faucet, lighting, flooring and hardware. Making these decisions before construction begins matters because products have lead times, and a choice made in a hurry mid-project is the one most likely to be regretted. Kitchen Kings installs MSI quartz and faucets from Kohler, Delta and Moen; our materials page lists what we have confirmed.

Permits

If the work involves electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical or structural changes, permits are typically needed. In Ashburn, these go through Loudoun County's Department of Building and Development, and trade work is inspected at rough-in and final. Your written scope says who handles permits.

During construction

During a full remodel the kitchen is usually out of use for part of the project. Plan where you will make coffee, store food and wash dishes. Our guide to living at home during a kitchen remodel has practical ideas for an Ashburn household. Kenney Construction handles the work directly rather than handing it to a third party, so you have one accountable team from estimate to completion.

Closeout

At the end we walk the kitchen together, review the details and address closeout items before turning the space over.
